Galway Girl

This place is ridiculously gorgeous.. and I cannot get over how nice some of the people are.
I'm excited to start classes... I cannot wait to get into a routine.
Friday we went and visited King John's Castle... what a lucky person he was!..It's huge and right on River Shannon.
I had a 'grand' time. haha
I'm trying to start sing some Irish lingo.. although I know I will butcher everything and still sound American.

I'm also on the hunt to find veggie stock. I don't know why it is so difficult.

Well for now, I'm going to bed. It is way to late..

Cheers!

The Stable Stories

Aluminum: Pronounced= al-u-min-e-um

Beer is NOT served room temperature in Ireland.

"We had so much craic (pronounced crack) " = "We had so much fun!"

Take out=Take away

1 pint of cider = € 3.9

Go to Galway and Dunegal ASAP.

"Americans have everything backwards".

People from Cork speak differently.. apparently like West Virginians..

Be careful of the men trying to schoon ladies.

AVOID Myross.

"He was fcuked off his fcuking face!" (This phrase was hilarious when we heard it)

Saying the "f bomb" instead of the word is apparently funny.

The living bridge sways.

The back of a car is not called a trunk.. it's a boot.

They played Mundy.. Galway Girl and the whole pub started singing... I wish, at that moment, I had my video camera.

"If you share a tin whistle it becomes too disgusting.. especially if you've had too much craic."

Cheers

So I cannot sleep, I have to be up soon for orientation anyway.
And I just failed at making veggie soup that you just add water to..
so I made my self a cup of green tea.
Cheers.

Shopping Trollies

Today was my first day in Ireland. I still cannot believe that I'm here.
I got here around 6:45 and into my room by 9:00. What a beautiful country.
People drive on the left hand side, which is going to take some getting used to, but we did pass many castles on the way to the University.
Going to the store today was an adventure in itself.
We took the bus which is the cleanest bus I have ever been on, and took the cab on the way home. The people here are the nicest in the world.
Grace and I had a ton of groceries, and thank goodness she was the sensible one and had the idea to call a cab. We didn't know where we were located, so the woman in the store put the call in for us.
She also told us to make sure that they charge us 8 euro for the both of us, not individually. She was the nicest lady I have ever met. The cab driver was pretty cool too.

The store didn't have vegetable stock, so when I find some I'll be making a mean soup! I cannot wait.
I also asked for a cart and the man looked at me funny and then replied, " Oh, shopping trollies, their out and around the corner!"
I love it, and I'm falling in love with this country.

I went to the pub tonight, which was very exciting, and I got a cider. It was very good.

Everyone's saying to go to Galway. That is a must on my list now.

Orientation in a few hours. I should try and get some sleep

First tell me which road you will take...

I thought that this was too ironic not to post...

PISCES (February 19-March 20)
This is going to be an unusual year. I mean that in the best sense of the word. In one of the most touching Sun-sign horoscopes I’ve ever read, Rockie Gardiner in the mid 2000s made a comment to Pisces about how the distances you are crossing are so vast, you may have no sense of where you’re going or whether you’re ever going to arrive. You are now in a phase of arrival. Like most things in astrology, this happens in phases and in layers, though at this time, you are well into the process.

The journey has changed you. Being in a constant confrontation with the unknown, you’ve learned what to do in an environment of uncertainty. That’s been a little like learning to walk across a high wire, which is not such a useful skill until the day comes when you have to walk across a narrow ledge, and then it’s easy. You’ve learned to exist in an environment that is only marginally supportive of who you are. You’ve learned to breathe air instead of water—a good trick for a fish.

And what now? The world taking shape around you is responsive to your ideas. You are able to grasp where people are coming from and respond to them accordingly. It is mysteriously easier to manifest resources. You have some radical ideas, and you can get them going. As regards ideas, don’t just “try” them—become their very embodiment.

The single most significant thing you can take with you as you dance with your transits through 2011 is: Be bold about being different. I don’t mean different for your own sake. I mean as different as you are, with courage and curiosity in your heart.

Chiron is going to be the most prominent energy in your chart, and Chiron is always different for a purpose. The most vital skill you can develop is mindfulness. That is the art of being aware from moment to moment, and experiencing life as a constant dynamic between your feelings, your thoughts, and your choices. This is also the year to get very good at taking care of your health.

I state these things not so much as goals but as essential tools you have unusually direct access to, and can cultivate—tools that will serve you well in the wild and unknown country you are about to enter.

Retracing Time and Counting Seconds

I started my countdown at 70 days..
and now I am down to 10. I can't believe it. Time went so fast.
I never imagined that I would ever have to chance to study in a different country. I guess it just takes a school you really don't like and some curiosity to see where life will take you.
I still don't know what to pack,
although I did purchase a nifty backpack today, I'm stuck on what to fill it with.
My suitcase too is empty...
